Learn To Read With Confidence

[Learn To Read Vernon]

Learn to read with confidence in a structured phonics program that helps struggling readers build real skills and lasting confidence. Reading is not complicated, but it is a skill that must be taught. Whether you're a parent looking for help for your child, or a teen or adult wanting to improve your own reading, we provide one-on-one instruction designed to make reading clear, manageable, and successful.

Our program teaches the sounds, patterns, and rules of English step by step, without guesswork. In about 60 hours of instruction on average, many students reach reading at or above grade level and gain the tools they need to keep improving. If you're ready to help your child — or yourself — become a stronger reader, contact us to learn more.

Read With Confidence The Correct Way

A little over 100 years ago, almost everybody could read well. In fact, the Puritans taught their children to read around the age of four.  Then, a “new and improved” method was introduced, drastically reducing reading skills!  According to Literacy Inc., 50% of US adults cannot read an eighth-grade-level book, and one child in four in the US grows up not knowing how to read.

The answer lies in phonics—a method that breaks down reading into simple, learnable steps. We focus on the sounds that letters make and how to blend them to form words. With just 44 sounds, the English language can be decoded easily, and thanks to our unique structured approach, reading becomes an exciting challenge.

With the failure of the Whole Word method of reading, phonics programs have again become popular.  However, not all phonics programs are created equal.  Many use pictures to help students read the word.  This amounts to guessing and is counterproductive since images and language are processed in different parts of the brain.  Some only teach a few phonetic rules, or do not teach all the sounds a letter can make. [The letter ”A” can make nine sounds!]

Our program is different. We don’t use sight words [except for the very few with no phonetic parts] or pictures. We focus on helping your child master letter sounds and all the phonetic rules that apply to nearly 90% of English words, including those borrowed from other languages. Imagine the joy your child will feel as their school grades improve and they can read exciting stories on their own.

Not A Tutoring Program

Please note this is not a tutoring program.  Our Learn To Read program is a complete program with well-defined lessons.  In fifteen lessons, which will take an average of 60 hours of instruction to complete, your child will be reading at or above their grade level.  Plus, they will have the tools they need to develop their reading skills through college and beyond.  Our one-on-one approach, using our unique systematic phonics instruction, is taught over Zoom and/or in-house. Your child will have a dedicated Reading Instructor Specialist guiding them every step of the way with easy-to-understand rules and lots of practice time. No matter your child’s current reading level, after completing the first lesson, they will have read over 300 words.  Renewed confidence will pave their path to literacy success.

Academic Associates

We use the Academic Associates systematic synthetic phonetic program. With these easy steps, anyone who can speak English [98% effective] can read with only 60 hours of instruction [on average]. In fact, it will come automatically. Some schools take a year to accomplish what we can usually do in a few hours. So, don't give up if you have been discouraged with reading. Reading help is here. You can learn to read or improve your reading skills.
